This Is Not a Play About Sex: The Archive
Established in 2013, This Is Not a Play About Sex is a beloved tradition, at Colgate University, first written and directed by alumna Poppy Liu ‘13. The script was written based on Poppy’s interviews with Colgate students about how social issues such as sex, gender, race, and sexuality shape the social environment of our campus and many students’ daily lives. Due to the onset of the pandemic, the 2020 production was canceled was consequently been dormant since then. In fall 2023, the project was revived by Parna Shakouri '23 as abbreviated and edited performances. TINAPAS was also transformed into a living archive to re-establish the play and its decade-old legacy of student advocacy through theater.

TINAPAS belongs to the student body. This living archive was created to allow all Colgate students and alumni to access to the stories that the project has told over the span of a decade. Our hope is for the archive to inspire current students to continue building on TINAPAS and imagining its future.
Material from TINAPAS may be used or referred to in other student projects on Colgate's campus or elsewhere but must include proper citation and attribution to This Is Not a Play About Sex.
